Sunday night - feeling dirty - need some Hot Sex now or similar. Checked listings and lo and behold, just around the corner, Ben Jamin and Fred Mann were throwing their second of three parties this autumn of un-expected electro pop, live music and DJs. With the mantra "what the Shoreditch-Hoxton scene really needs is a break from Irony and some decent dance tunes",  the pair have bagged the best loved venue in the area, The Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, for three nights of pure dance madness.
The BGWMC is exactly what it says on the tin - a superb example of a 70s wood panelled room with a 'seen better days' slightly sticky red carpet and an aluminium suspended ceiling. The pocket handkerchief dance floor is surrounded by formica tables and gaffa taped, pvc upholstered chairs with the whole shebang geared towards a giant heart illuminated stage. Live performance came from ANTIGONE fresh from a club tour of Australia, whose new single 'More than a Man' and great kink synth pop sound has been filling floors everywhere.

Sadly the rottweiler on the door caught one sight of our camera and threw us out - but we did manage to snap one frame (see left) as we tumbled down the concrete steps. No amount of pleading from the promoters could persuade his monosyllabic brain that we were allowed to be there so we experience the rest of Antigone thru a crack window from a piss-swilled alley - oh the glamour! (but she was fabulous!)

Superstar DJs Holestar and Guy Williams kept the fresh remixes coming, and with affordable drinks at the bar a cracking night ensued - at least it looked that way from our alley.

Next party is Sunday 30th November.
