When two giants of London's Clubland come together you just know it's going to be the mother of all parties and not to be missed, so on the August bank holiday we duly ventured north to Egg at Kings Cross for the summer spectacular Naked Zoo. The dj roster read like a Who's Who of vinyl junkies and included such luminaries as the Gutterslut boys, Fat Tony, Quentin Harris, Lady Bianca and about 15 others playing in no less than 5 rooms a combined 45+ hours of cutting edge, mind stomping, arms in the air music across more genres than Emelda has shoe closets. Add to that host David Neon, a raft of avant garde performers meandering thru the venue making mayhem and beach inspired cocktails, and you get the idea! Arriving early for the free cocktails (no we're not cheap, just good value!), we were part of the evenings sedate start that soon turned in to a riotous melee as birdcages were transformed into head pieces, megaphones were used as mass communication devices and feline masked lads tottered round en pointe. There were mind bending sights we never thought we'd see... lions in regal Egyptian paraphernalia, zebra painted torsos, leopard clad trannies and MC Crystal in flat shoes. Naked Zoo is like the mother of all acid trips on a rollercoaster in heels... and we loved it! |
